The Canada Curling Rules, published by the Canadian Curling Association and amended by them from time to time, except as altered by the following rules and by special rules established for individual events, shall be the applicable rules for all Club curling events.
1. TIME OF PLAY - ALL LEAGUES
Each game is normally eight (8) ends and should be played within a two (2) hour time frame. In order to manage the allotted time, a buzzer will be used to signal the amount of time left to complete the game. Each League has the responsibility to establish a buzzer rule which, in the opinion of the organizing committee, is best suited to the management of the playing time in its League. As a Club rule, an end is deemed to be completed when the score has been determined. This rule should not become part of the strategy of play
2. TIED GAMES
Points for Tied games will be equal for both teams. Forfeited games are not considered a tie game.
a). All Leagues - A team that does not have at least TWO of its regular members present and able to play the scheduled game shall forfeit the game.
b). Men's League - A team may use spares at the discretion of the skip to a maximum of two.
c). Mixed Leagues - The following rules shall apply:
- A female player must skip or play third at all times; and
- Subject to rule i), spares may play at any position.
- Sunday Mixed only: CCA Mixed format, each position must be alternate gender
4. SPARE FEES - ALL LEAGUES
Individuals who wish to spare for the curling season will register as Associate/Limited Members and are entitled to play a maximum of 12 games in any ONE League during the season. (See Membership Fees section for detailed fees) The Associate/Limited Member will be entitled to play an additional 12 games in the initial league or a second league upon payment of and additional Associate/Limited League fee. Occasional Spare fees of $15/game will be paid for any games in excess of the initial 12 games when second Associate/Limited League Fee is not obtained. The spares fee for non-members is $15.00 per game. There is no spares fee for members of one league sparing in another league.
5. CANCELLING AND RESCHEDULING OF GAMES
If, for any reason, a game cannot be played as scheduled, the team that is unable to play should give at least 24 hours notice to a member of the opposing team. Games may be rescheduled within the current round, at the convenience of the team that was prepared to curl the original game on the scheduled date. If a mutually agreeable time cannot be found to make up the game in the current round, the team unable to play the original game must forfeit same to the opposing team. When a game is postponed or cancelled, the team initiating the schedule change must ensure that a notification of "free ice" is posted, as soon as possible, on the "Free Ice" board in the lounge. Club phone number is: 749-7086.
Club members are expected to supply their own curling equipment and wear proper footwear. Brushes at the Club are provided for rental purposes only. Proper footwear, reserved for curling, must be worn to maintain the cleanliness of the ice. Street shoes are not permitted.
Children under the age of nineteen are permitted in the lounge ONLY DURING THE HOURS ASSIGNED TO JUNIOR CURLING. Otherwise, they must be accompanied in the lounge (i.e., not in the ice house) AT ALL TIMES by a parent or adult guardian. A parent on the ice while the child is unaccompanied in the lounge is unacceptable.
8. PLACEMENT OF OPPONENT'S ROCKS PRIOR TO DELIVERY
Opponents' rocks should NOT be moved closer to the hack prior to delivering your own stone. While some consider this a courtesy, research demonstrates that NO TIME OR EFFORT IS SAVED, AND A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD IS CREATED.
